Something Old, Something New

Something Old, Something New

Charlotte Balbier and Stella York for Autumn 2015.

Hi Everyone,

WOW! We have just returned from Harrogate and once again we have been blown away by the amazing collections on offer.  We often get asked if shopping for bridal and bridesmaids ever gets a bit ‘same-y’.  I think people (usually male!) see rows and rows of white dresses with lots of lace or satin and assume the differences are so subtle that all we need to do is randomly point our fingers and nod our heads at a few designs, leaving us free to spend the rest of the weekend quaffing champagne!

Well, as ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ as this sounds neither Mum nor I are up to the pace of a Patsy and Edina approach to Fashion Buying.  We pour over details, can talk at length about a sleeve V a strapless design and after two trips a year for four years, have attained the shopping stamina equivalent of a couple of well-honed marathon runners.

There is the temptation to buy, buy, buy but this doesn’t help anyone. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as too much choice and in order to bank-roll a wild buying spree we’d have to bankrupt you with a hike in prices. Not good! Instead, we focus on designers that we know deliver exceptional design and in addition to this, we’ll seek out new, potential brands that fit our bridal mix.

Our recent wave of new stock is a perfect example of how well this works for our customers:

Something Old

We say old, simply because we have been stocking the amazing Charlotte Balbier since we opened. Charlotte is one of those impressive designers who produces a beautifully inspired collection each and every year.

We have just taken stock of her Willa Rose collection which is feminine, ethereal and romantic and showcases fabulous, Bohemian-style designs for the free spirited brides out there.

Charlotte said in a recent interview, “Boho inspired and free spirited floaty chiffon styles have been popular from my last two collections so I developed these styles for 2016, creating more beautiful paired down, simple gowns.”

Something New

We are delighted to become a stockist of Stella York, a collection that brings dramatic elegance and sophistication. We currently stock their sister collection of Bridesmaids Gowns, Sorella Vitta, and the quality and service has been fantastic.

The Australian influence shines through these stunning gowns and they are head-turning, extravagant creations that we know our glamorous brides are going to love.  The designs are inspired by the world’s hottest red carpet trends and then handcrafted with beautiful detail and exceptional fit to give perfect form to the body.

So there we have it, perfect Boho Free Spirited Designs alongside Glamorous On-Trend Influences. Choosing a mix of collections that give our brides great choice, amazing quality and a sensible price point has become our number one aim... although we do manage one or two little glasses of Champagne!

Book an appointment now to view our latest collections.

We hope to see you very soon,

Jolene and Karen XX
